Disappointments and let downs, pains, storms, battles… I’ve come to learn, are part of life. Someone or something will bring you down once in a while. Life is not a bed of roses, not filled with goodies all year round… I mean, everyday can’t be Christmas and therefore, disappointments should be seen as part of life, part of becoming who you are meant to be, a section of a bigger picture. See disappointments as stepping stones, not obstacles. In the end, it only makes you tougher, and as they say, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger…
However, when one is let down, there is this thought that tries to drown you, tries to keep you down, keep you wallowing in pain. the what if, the had I known, only if i hadn’t let my guard down… so much to make you reconsider trusting people again, reconsider showing that you are fragile, showing any form of emotion that can allow vulnerability. All through it, though, through every heartbreak and let down, through every pain and disappointment, there is always something or someone you can turn to, to ease your pain… an anchor that keeps you from drowning in self-pity and still be a shoulder to cry on, the balm that eases your pain and soothes your aching heart …that solace…
That solace is what keeps you going till the next storm comes, till the next time your trust is broken… everyone finds their solace in their own way and it’s what keeps us going through every stormy day, the promise of solace through the raging storm. So when the skies are dark and all seems dreary, when all hope seems to be lost, never forget that you’ve got a solace through the storm.

Not every day is Christmas, and not every Christmas is merry! Solace is what keeps us going till the next storm comes – absolutely agree! we need reminders like this 🙂
yes, thank you 🙂
Wow! This is very well written! You have a really strong writing voice. Keep it up!
i will try, thank you for taking the time to read 🙂
This is a beautiful sentiment and much needed. I was just dealing with this very concept regarding my own very bad recent experience and your point about lamenting letting your guard down is key. That is how I punished myself for so long. It is sad that some need to search our vulnerable points but beautiful that so many keep love alive regardless.
glad you could relate
