I think one of the major problems in relationships is when two individuals think they have to become one person. In that, they come to believe that because they are in love, they and their partner have to have one of everything (likes, hobbies, preferences).
Time is a well-known universal treasure owned by all. Also, almost everyone now knows the preciousness of time, at least in theory. And anyone could preach a compelling sermon or deliver a motivational lecture about how time is life, and how it is important for everyone to take it seriously if they intend to achieve anything worthwhile in life. And in the end, a choice has to be made, actively or passively. You have to decide what life means to you. An existence of playing it safe or an opportunity to BE.
And love was the culprit yet again. Not that we hated the way we felt when we were in love. Not that we never wanted to feel that way again nor was it that those days were better forgotten.
